English Language and English Literature

Students follow AQA GCSE English Language and AQA GCSE English Literature.

Students are taught a range of poetry from late 1789 through to modern day.  Students study pre-1900 text alongside a more modern text and Shakespeare.  Throughout the course, students are given the opportunity to read extracts from many authors and are encouraged to form their own opinions.

Students develop their creative skills through fiction and non-fiction writing.  Technical accuracy is taught throughout the course.
