Art & Design

Students at Two Bridges School are introduced to a variety of Art and Design techniques.

Projects are Theme based and are set Termly; each Project will cover different elements/techniques of Art and Design which will cover the following areas: Drawing and Painting, Colour, Line and Tone, Print making, Textiles, Patterns, Collage and Texture, 2D and 3D media, Papier mache. Students need to learn the above key skills in order for them to progress.

Students are encouraged and to experiment and that it is ok to make mistakes as that is how we learn and progress. They will learn to gain confident in making choices, they will gain SMC understanding and be able to explore and develop their work through reflection and the work of others and their peers. All students present a final piece for each topic and through the process they will learn to organise and present an outcome linked to the theme of that Term.

The aim for students is for them to gain a variety of different skills that they can develop and to understand how they can be used and transferred within the framework of an Art and Design brief especially if they want to progress in Art at KS4.

Art and Design is an important part of the curriculum for the students at the Two Bridges School, it improves areas such as their creative ability, imagination, problem solving skills, fine motor skills, social skills  and concentration. They are able to be free and enjoy the Art process.
